About us

CEIM’s aim is to support the implementation of business projects, serving as an important mechanism to boost entrepreneurship, innovation and intellectual property. Our goal is to assist and contribute towards the emergence of start-up companies in the initial phase and support them in the aggregation of value, thus contributing to the revitalization of the business environment of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Created in 1997 and currently under the tutelage of the Secretaria Regional da Economia, Turismo e Cultura, of the Regional Government, CEIM is responsible for the implementation and application of the “Business Innovation Centre Program” (EC BICs) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Mission

To be an instrument in regional development, supporting entrepreneurs in the implementation of their innovative business projects in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, right from the first step, through the development and expansion phase, providing fertile ground for entrepreneurship, namely for the younger age groups, acting as a bridge and central contact point for an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

CEIM sees itself as a reference point in bringing innovation and entrepreneurship to the public attention in the Autonomous Region of Madeira by means of skills and experiences.

Objectives:

  • contribute to the diversification and growth of the economy in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, focusing specifically on innovative business activity;
  • help entrepreneurs to carry out their innovative business project ideas at various levels;
  • create a favourable atmosphere for the development of entrepreneurship in the Autonomous Region of Madeira;

Corporate structure

The Business Innovation Centre of Madeira (CEIM- BIC Madeira) is an instrument for regional development resulting from a public-private partnership. These entities are part of its corporate structure:

  • Universidade da Madeira (UMa)
  • Associação de Jovens Empresários Madeirenses (AJEM)
  • Banco Internacional do Funchal, S.A. (Banif)
  • Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira, S.A. (EEM)
  • Empresa de Cervejas da Madeira, S.A. (EEM)
  • Insular – Produtos Alimentares, SGPS, S.A.

Corporate identity

The Business and Innovation Centre of Madeira (CEIM / BIC Madeira) as an institution directly linked to innovation and the local business environment, the Business and Innovation Centre of Madeira (CEIM / BIC Madeira) necessarily needs to convey and always be associated with these values.

In order to identify CEIM’s image with the increasingly contemporary aesthetics of globalization and “global village” perspectives, a new image was created: “more organic and voluptuous, thus conveying the constantly changing, free wave of thought and innovation, whether creative or technical”

The previous logo was changed and a new graphic look or layout was introduced, in which “the whole is represented, without falling into vulgarity or merely aesthetic solutions. The symbol calls for verticality and a pro-active corporate movement.”

“The dot over the “i” was worked to give the expression of the concept of innovation being the main centre of the logo, where it generates the dynamism and progress, as well as represents the human being as responsible for this bursting forth of emotions allied to the corporate and innovative world”. “The colours used are intended to convey the formal corporate world, with the use of the colour blue, without forgetting an element of audacity and change, associated with the colour orange. These two colours are combined to create dynamism and contrasts that transmit brightness.”
