For thousands of workers, Teleworking is the new norm, but for digital nomads, it is a reality that they embraced many years ago. Digital nomads are forced to work online and travel full time around the world. For many workers, this was a dream situation that now has become a reality, with the announcement of millions of companies that will forever embrace telework, such as Facebook, Twitter, Outsystems, and Talkdesk.
Being able to work from anywhere, Digital Nomads tend to travel to the most beautiful places in the world. They look for warm places, with good weather, delicious food, unforgettable activities in nature and, above all, fast internet.
Madeira Islands have the perfect conditions to attract digital nomads with its natural beauty, activities in nature, culture, and fantastic weather conditions throughout the year. There was an urgent need to create an integrated strategy to attract this market, in order to make Madeira also known as one of the best places in the world to work remotely. Thus, “Digital Nomads Madeira” was born.
Madeira Digital Nomads is a project developed by the Regional Government of Madeira, through Startup Madeira. It aims to attract digital nomads from all over the world to come to work from Madeira.
Professionals from major companies and digital entrepreneurs will set Madeira as their home for periods between 1 and 6 months, living like locals in the communities around the island.
Within this project, Ponta do Sol will be the pilot for this unique project: Nomad Village.
Ponta do Sol gathers the perfect conditions for nomads that are looking for warm weather, sun, and a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by nature. Its natural beauty, easy access to the sea, nature, and excellent internet represents the perfect business card of this beautiful village to attract digital nomads from all over the globe.
Between February and July, this project of Digital Nomads Madeira is expected to have a very positive impact on the local economy, whilst increasing the consumption in local businesses, facing the current reduction of tourists.
