Madeira Startup Retreat: Demo Day

We Startup Madeira, Turismo de Portugal and NOVA School of Business and Economics will hold the closing session of the 7th edition of the Madeira Startup Retreat* on 18 March 2026, at the auditorium of the Casa da Luz Museum in Funchal.

This Demo Day is a moment of celebration, where international startups will share their ideas with investors, partners, hotel groups, the airport, ports, transport companies, tourism operators, and others.

Over the course of six weeks, this acceleration programme brings together 10 travel, tourism and leisure startups: Apollo: Turismo Outdoor (Brazil), Ciceru (Italy), eTrilhas (Brazil), HotelBuddy (Estonia), Passabot (Brazil), Simplifyer (Portugal), The Regenerative Tourism (EUA), Tripio.co (Germany), Tripnly (Turkey & Portugal) e Volvero (Italy).

For this initiative, confirmed guest speakers include Eliano Marques (Datamentors), Lígia Gomes (Amplify: Good | Nomads & Pirates | Peggada) and Carlos Bleck de Siqueira (FRANK).They will explore topics such as the use of AI in tourism and hospitality, responsible consumption that promotes businesses and initiatives with social and environmental impact, projects that support professionals transitioning to remote and purpose-driven careers, and an innovative platform transforming the insurance consulting sector through intelligent automation.

This session, in english, will also welcome on stage Andreia Rosa Collard (Secretaria Regional de Economia), Sérgio Guerreiro (Turismo de Portugal), Carla Portela (NOVA SBE) and Carlos Soares Lopes (Startup Madeira).

From 5:30 p.m. onwards, there will be a networking session at the Three House Hotel, where all startups, entrepreneurs, mentors, speakers, and other participants will have the opportunity to share contacts and ideas.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Madeira Startup Retreat acceleration programme aims to bring together startups connected to travel, tourism, and leisure. Supported by Turismo de Portugal and developed by Startup Madeira, in partnership with NOVA SBE, this 7th edition is taking place in person, from 9 February to 20 March, in Madeira.
Over six intensive weeks, the participating startups have the opportunity to work, share knowledge and experiences, analyse their businesses, and set goals with the support of expert mentors.
One of the main goals of this programme is to provide entrepreneurs with the chance to take advantage of Madeira’s ecosystem as a living hub — a space to test and scale their products and services, and explore new branding niches.
This edition brings together 10 startups, based in 7 countries, representing 11 nationalities among 28 participants.
Since 2018, the Madeira Startup Retreat acceleration programme has hosted 70 international startups from 26 countries, 201 entrepreneurs of 39 nationalities, and over 60 mentors and speakers.
