UniVerse: Entrepreneurial Academy
On the 11 de novembro the “UniVerse: Entrepreneurial Academy”, will take place a side event of the Web Summit, scheduled from 17h00 e as 20h00, at the Pavilhão de Portugal, In Lisbon. This event aims to foster dialogue between Portuguese universities, companies, investors, and startups, while showcasing entrepreneurial talent from each participating university through a pitch competition.
Addressed to Web Summit participants, public and private entities from the innovation ecosystem, investors, companies, startups, and entrepreneurs, the “UniVerse – Entrepreneurial Academy” aims to highlight the strategic role of academia in the country’s economic and technological development.
Startup Madeira and the Universidade da Madeira, as partner entities of this event, will be present throughout the session to share information about the local ecosystem. Madeira will also be represented in the "Pitch Competition" by the project " Ecotherm Solutions and the startup Musiquence Technologies; along with the participation of tech companies developed by UMa alumni, such as FootAR and Buzzvel.
““UniVerse – Entrepreneurial Academy””is a collaborative initiative that brings together the Universidades de Lisboa, Porto, Coimbra, Aveiro, Algarve, Évora, Madeira and NOVA FCT, ith the support of the Agência Nacional de Inovação, Startup Portugal, Startup Madeira and the EIT Community Hub Portugal.
This initiative also aims to strengthen the contribution of academia-based entrepreneurship to the national innovation and startup ecosystem, promoting discussion on the future of the sector, and identifying opportunities and challenges in supporting projects born from research and the talent within higher education institutions.
