Applications to the EUROPEAN FUND TO SUPPORT TRADEMARK REGISTRATION AND OTHER IP RIGHTS reopened on November 9.

The deadline for submitting these applications is December 16th.

Applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable that interested SMEs submit their applications as soon as possible in order to ensure the approval of their reimbursements.

The Fund consists of a partial reimbursement of the costs associated with design registration applications, trademark applications and patent applications, up to a maximum value, per SME (micro, small and medium enterprises), of 2250.00€:

Voucher 1 (maximum reimbursement of 1500.00€)

• Reimbursement of 75% of the value of the basic fees for trademark and design applications (design protection) in the EU; design) da UE;
• Reimbursement of 75% of the value of the basic fees for trademark and design applications in Portugal;
• Reimbursement of 50% of the pre-grant fees for international trademark and design applications through the World Intellectual Property Organization - WIPO;
• Reimbursement of 90% in IP pre-grant services.

Voucher 2 (maximum refund of 750.00€)

• Reimbursement of 50% of the fees for patent applications in Portugal.

As an example, for trademark applications in Portugal and in the European Union, as mentioned above, this Fund will reimburse 75% of the value of the basic fees: 

Thus, if the respective Application is approved, an SME will spend on a trademark registration application, with a class:

• Trademark registration application €31.88 (VAT exempt);
• Application for EU registration 212.50€ (VAT Exempt).

This Fund is certainly an excellent opportunity for all SMEs to protect their respective IP assets, specifically trademarks, patents and designs, in Portugal, the EU and internationally (via WIPO).
