“What if Madeira Island were the planet’s last environmental refuge in the year 3026?”
Under this futuristic vision, Startup Madeira launches the event "eGames Lab > Ready to Play!". From april 24 to may 3, Madeira Shopping becomes a gateway to innovation, where technology, education and creativity come together to celebrate the thriving video games industry.
What is “eGames Lab > Ready to Play!”?
It is a thematic and interactive space dedicated to gaming culture, where digital and analogue creativities intersect. As the regional partner of the eGames Lab consortium, Startup Madeira opens the doors of this ecosystem so that everyone can explore, test and experience the projects developed by our companies and research centres, with the aim of showcasing regional and national talent to the community. This event is integrated into the eGames Lab mobilising agenda and funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Ongoing Activities
To ensure an inclusive experience, the event is divided into different fronts over 10 days:
- 🎮 Free Play Zone > Here, you can test firsthand the video games created by the companies that make up the eGames Labconsortium, such as WOWSystems, WalkMe Mobile Solutions, Redcatpig, FootAR, Yacooba Labs, Infinity Games, APCA e Greener Act. Over 10 days, this area will be open to the community, with video game demonstrations from 14:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 15:00 to 21:00 on weekends and holidays. The community is invited to play, discover and learn more about the video games developed by theeGames Lab consortium.
- 📚 School Quest > For the youngest, with a focus on the school community, pupils from the 1st and 2nd cycles are the protagonists—they are the “Young Explorers”. Through gamified storytelling sessions, the young people are challenged to solve team enigmas. With 1:20 thematic sessions that repeat over 5 days between 14:00 and 17:00. Includes activities specially designed for pupils and group play dynamics, providing an educational and fun experience.
- 👨👩👧👦 Family & Community Quest > On weekends and holidays, the focus is on families! The event opens to the public with activities designed for all ages, including a family session from 15:30 - 17:00 (register on site), promoting an educational and fun experience.
- 📣 Fnac Talks > The Fnac Talks cycle brings together a panel of 10 invited speakers convidados (more information). Among the speakers are researchers, entrepreneurs, artists and specialists from the creative and digital industries, who will address topics such as technological innovation, creative entrepreneurship and gamification applied to education and sustainability. The Fnac Talks take place from 19:00 - 20:00, with free access open to the community. It will be a space for debate, sharing, inspiration and reflection on the future of the creative and digital industries.
- 🌅 Sunset & Cosplay > Step into the skin of your favourite character and join us to celebrate creativity to the sound of the best gaming universe themes. gaming. On may 1, from 18:00 - 20:00, we invite you to dress up as your favourite characters. Let’s celebrate the iconic characters from the video games universe, pop & geek culture.

It’s an invitation to the community!
Parents, children, grandparents and grandchildren, the "Ready to Play!" event was designed for everyone. This is an event open to all Madeiran families so they can discover how video games can be tools for learning, sustainability and, of course, lots of family fun. Entry is free!
