As part of the event “eGames Lab > Ready to Play!”, Startup Madeira dedicates the late afternoon of May 1 to one of the artistic forms of expression most closely linked to the world of video games: cosplay.

Between 18:00 and 20:00, the central square of Madeira Shopping will be transformed into a stage for creativity, music and performance, inviting enthusiasts of all ages to step into the shoes of their favourite characters. Cosplay is a cultural phenomenon that involves the portrayal of fictional characters through costumes, make-up, accessories and performance, and is today a global form of expression associated with video games, anime, cinema and comic books.

Sunset & Cosplay: An Invitation to the Community

On May 1, the community is invited to take centre stage, with a challenge directed at families, young people and enthusiasts of "geek" culture: to show up with their best interpretation of their favourite character.

The Sunset & Cosplay event will transform Madeira Shopping into a space for social interaction and celebration. Between 18:00 and 20:00, the atmosphere will be set by DJ Andy Lux,who will deliver a musical selection focused on the greatest hits from the gaming universe, ranging from 8‑bit classics to the epic anthems of modern video games. This family-friendly playlist spans several decades of gaming history — from the nostalgic melodies of Super Mario and Tetris, to the epic themes of The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, and the modern beats of League of Legends and Fortnite.

eGames Lab > Ready to Play 

We would like to remind you that the event “eGames Lab > Ready to Play!” is taking place at Madeira Shopping from April 24 to May 3. Over the course of 10 days, participants can expect a programme that combines technological showcases, discussion and hands-on experiences, with the aim of giving visibility to video games and to the growing relationship between technology, creativity, education and digital culture.

“Sunset & Cosplay” is therefore an initiative integrated into the event “eGames Lab > Ready to Play!”, which aims to give visibility to the work being developed within the regional and national ecosystem, while promoting the results achieved by the eGames Lab consortium. This consortium is funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan, through the Mobilising Agendas.
